The next high-difficulty “Ultimate” Raid for Final Fantasy XIV will revisit the battle against Omega. Called “Omega Protocol,” it is the 5th Ultimate duty to be added to the game. The FFXIV Ultimate Omega Protocol raid will launch two weeks after the debut of patch 6.3 on January 10, 2023. That would put the debut around January 24, 2023.
In Final Fantasy XIV, Ultimate duties (or Ultimate Raids) are among the most challenging content in the game, designed for organized groups of high-level players. They often feature exclusive rewards, are inspired by Main Scenario encounters and the Normal Raid series battles introduced periodically.
FFXIV Ultimate Omega Protocol is based on the Omega Normal Raid series launched as part of Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. These raids pit players against Omega, an immensely powerful mechanical weapon from another star. Omega was capable of trapping parties in a set of virtual constructs, testing them in trials against enemies from other universes and alternative timelines. The Omega raids also featured battles against characters from other Final Fantasy games like Exdeath, Kefka, and the Phantom Train.
Given the pattern of design for FFXIV Ultimate Raids, Omega Protocol may feature references to or twists on some or all of these mechanics, along with a battle against the humanoid forms of Omega. These, called Omega-M and Omega-F, were the final battle of the Omega raid series.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. The Ultimate Omega Protocol raid debuts two weeks after the launch of Patch 6.3 on January 10, 2023.
