Luke may be a relative newcomer to the World Warriors’ roster, but he’s front and center as the leading man on the Street Fighter 6 cover art. His face and pose are in the cover illustration for the game, but some may prefer to see other characters gracing their shelves when the game launches in June 2023. Capcom and its retail partners are obliging, at least for those in Japan. According to a post from the official Japanese Street Fighter 6 account, players who buy the game from Amazon Japan or retailer Geo will get alternative cover art inserts featuring four different characters [Thanks, ResetEra!]
The alternative Street Fighter 6 box art insert are split between the two retailers. They apply to both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game in Japan.
Players who pick up the game via Amazon Japan will get a reversible cover featuring Chun-li and Guile. Both Chun-li and Guile appear as they do in Street Fighter 6, with update appearances and costumes. Buyers who grab it through Geo will get inserts featuring Luke’s buddy and fellow newcomer Jamie, as well as the ever-popular Juri. Juri’s cover is particularly stylized, rendered almost entirely in cyan and hot pink. The logo text for the game on the alternative Street Fighter 6 box art inserts is also further adjusted to reflect the characters’ background and personality. For example, Guile’s cover art uses military block lettering for the Street Fighter 6 logo.
These alternative covers have not yet been announced for versions of the game outside Japan.
As an aside, some fan dissatisfaction with the Street Fighter 6 cover art reached the ears of voice actor Aleks Le, who plays Luke. In response, Le drew up his own alternate cover concept.
