There’s a new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet character called Gimmighoul, and it will also come to Pokemon GO. It is a ghost-type Pokemon that appears to be inspired by the “mimic” chests. However, in addition to the “Chest Form,” there is a “Roaming Form” that involves the ghost exploring on its own, outside of a chest.
First, here’s the trailer showing the new Gimmighoul in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It shows how the Chest Form could be sitting stationary along a wall. The ghost is inside, surrounded by coins. This version then appears alongside a trainer in battle. After that, the Roaming Form appears at the 45 second mark. It is standing atop a sign and carrying a coin on its back. The official site says nobody’s ever managed to catching a Roaming Form of the character, due to its high speed.
Speaking of speed, Rattled is the Chest Form of the character’s ability. If the ability works the way it did in past games, this means that bug, dark, and ghost-type moves will raise its speed stat.
Here’s official art of the character:
There’s also a video discussing its appearance in Pokemon GO featuring Professor Willow and Mr. Jacq. It notes that the character’s coins are showing up in the mobile game. While they run from trainers in the Switch game, they seem to approach folks in the mobile game. The video then shows an ominous story involving the ghost type. When 999 coins go into the chest, something happens. This announcement also confirmed the console and mobile game can link to each other in 2023.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will come to the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. Pokemon GO is available on Android and Apple iOS devices. The last new character revealed ahead of it was Greavard.
