The Trigun Stampede trailer, produced by Studio Orange, shows a different vision of Trigun. The series appears to be a reboot of the original story, taking place at an earlier point in Vash the Stampede’s career. For one, the bounty on his head is just $$6 million double dollars, rather than the $$60 billion it was in the original series and manga. The trailer is also more explicit about Vash’s backstory, showing him, his brother Knives, and their caretaker Rem. The 1998 anime series referred to Vash’s past only indirectly until its final episodes. Vash himself also looks quite different, with his double-breasted red duster reimagined as a more modern hooded coat. His revolver as well, looks less like a realistic weapon, now packing eight shots in the cylinder and having the appearance of a large, blocky hand cannon.
Along with the trailer, Orange revealed key staff members on the project. Kenji Mutou, who worked on Beastars, Land of the Lustrous and Cavity Express, will direct the show. Character Designer Kouji Tajima, who worked on the Attack on Titan live-action adaptations, Gantz: O, and Harlock: Space Pirate, is credited as providing the character concept and other concept art for Trigun Stampede.
