The Intergrade version, which was released subsequently after the original PlayStation 4 release, included the Episode Intermission expansion. This new storyline starred Yuffie Kisaragi, expanding upon her time in Midgar and her adventures before joining Cloud Strife and his party.

Square Enix has also shared information about the next installment in the trilogy. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will continue where Remake ended. A trailer provided a glimpse at some of the key events players will experience in the game.
