Atlus announced that Shin Megami Tensei V sales have reached over 1 million units worldwide. The game passed the 1 million unit milestone this month, April 2022. The announcement came with a special illustration of protagonist Nahobino from character designer Masayuki Doi.
SMT V is the latest title in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. The game released on November 11, 2021, in Japan and on November 12, 2021, in North America as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Much like past Shin Megami Tensei games, it follows a protagonist who can fight, recruit, and fuse a large cast of demons. After merging with a god-like being, the protagonist must journey through a post-apocalyptic Tokyo known as Da’at.

The latest numbers reportedly include both physical and digital sales from across the globe. Previously, less than two months after its release, Atlus announced that SMT V had reached 800,000 sales worldwide. While monthly sales numbers have slowed since then, SMT V‘s sales are markedly higher compared to previous iterations of the series. SMT IV, for example, sold 600,000 copies worldwide over the course of two years.
In celebration, SMT V character designer Masayuki Doi drew a special illustration of Nahobino. Furthermore, Atlus is holding a 30% discount sale for all downloadable versions of Shin Megami Tensei V on the Japanese Nintendo Switch store. The sale will run from April 25, 2022, to May 11, 2022.
