Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1 New Characters

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1 Will Introduce New Characters to the Story

In an interview with Dengeki, Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed new characters will appear in Patch 6.1 However, while new characters will be introduced to the player characters, this doesn’t mean that fan favorites will simply disappear. Yoshida mentioned that it would be impossible to “sever the bonds” created with the Scions and other characters forged throughout the story. That said, Final Fantasy XIV players can expect to see some new characters once Patch 6.1 arrives. [Thanks, Dengeki!]

Specifically, Yoshida said this:

New characters will appear, but that’s really all I can say for now. However, we are simply not just adding new characters for the sake of furthering the story. I don’t believe that it would be right to think that just because we are entering a new chapter, that all of the things the Warrior of Light has built up until now would just disappear. It would be impossible to sever the bonds the player has created with these characters throughout their journey.

With the saga of Hydaelyn and Zodiark having come to a close, Yoshida explained that characters like Alphinaud, for example, will be able to focus on other objectives. This will set the path for where the next part of the Warrior of Light’s journey will begin. Although, there will be a cliffhanger that will leave players asking questions.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1 will release sometime in mid-April 2022, bringing new characters.
