This marks the first time Chrono Trigger PC version got an update since August 2018. The mobile versions have only seen minor bug fixes since then. Square Enix even released a new trailer in Japan to show off the 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio and other features. It goes over each addition in turn, with a note at the bottom showing the new element being shown off.

Chrono Trigger originally launched for the SNES in 1995 as a critically acclaimed RPG. PlayStation, Nintendo DS, PC, and mobile ports later appeared. It is not currently available on modern consoles, despite fan demand. However, a new Chrono Trigger jazz album released back in January 2022. Plus, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, a remastered version of its sequel, will launch for consoles and PCs in April.

The new Chrono Trigger update will arrive on March 11, 2022 on PCs, Android, and iOS devices. It is available on all three platforms worldwide.
