Announced in September 2021, the expansion teased an area where players will be able to encounter entirely new monsters. This will include the flagship monster, the Malzeno. However, monsters from previous games will also appear in the paid expansion, including the Shogun Ceanataur. Master Rank will also be available once the expansion releases in Summer 2022. Additionally, a trailer from The Game Awards 2021 not only gave viewers a glimpse of the new player hub, but also teased another new monster that will appear.

In January 2022, Capcom revealed sales for Monster Hunter Rise had topped 8 million shortly after its PC release. The title has continued to sell, and it remains one of Capcom’s best-selling titles.
