Monster Hunter Rise Failed to Save Patch Released for PCs

When Monster Hunter Rise launched on PCs, a failed to save error appeared alongside it. This would keep people from loading the game. However, Capcom released a patch on January 20, 2022. Once people download it, they can start playing after following a few steps.

However, if someone already owned Monster Hunter Rise and played (or attempted to) before the patch, then they need to follow a few steps to overcome the failed to save issue. Someone will need to temporarily disable Steam Cloud and its saves for the game and delete the save data you already have. The local save files will be in the “remote” folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(User ID)\1446780\ (though Capcom says temporarily copy that folder somewhere else, to be safe). This is so you can make fresh, save data after the patch and don’t have the old save data keeping the problem going.

Once you have the fresh save made, you can enable Steam Cloud saves again. The game will ask if you want to upload the new save to the cloud the next time you play. Do so to replace it and eliminate Monster Hunter Rise’s failed to save issue.

Monster Hunter Rise is available on the Nintendo Switch and PC. The Sunbreak expansion will appear in Summer 2022.
