Atlus announced that Shin Megami Tensei V sales have reached over 800,000 units. The news comes less than two months after the game’s worldwide simultaneous release back in November 2021. Atlus also thanked fans for their continued support of its franchises. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
The information comes from a Famitsu article, in which the magazine invited a total of 60 Japanese video game companies to celebrate the new year. These companies included Arc System Works, Capcom, Bandai Namco, and many others. As customary in Japan, each company released a new year’s card featuring special illustrations. Some also teased upcoming releases and announcements.
Atlus’ new year’s card features Jack Frost alongside Byakko, a tiger demon from the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series. This is due to the fact that 2022 is the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac calendar.
Alongside the new year’s card, Atlus revealed that Shin Megami Tensei V sales reached 800,000 units sold worldwide. It also teased that it is currently working on a surprise, new unannounced title. While Atlus didn’t offer any specific details, it also stated that the Switch release of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim in April 2022 would be “just the beginning”.
Shin Megami Tensei V is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch. If you’re interested in reading more about Shin Megami Tensei V, you can check out our review.
