FFXIV Grapes Fixed, Beet Soup Name Changed in Patch 6.01

Among the changes in FFXIV patch 6.01 are two minor, meme-related ones affecting the grapes in an area and the Beet Soup meal. The former involves the crop in Labyrinthos, a new The Northern Empty Zone added in Endwalker. The latter involves a new distinction to properly “classify” the kind of beet soup.

Originally, the grapes in the new FFXIV Labyrinthos area looked different than ones in other areas. They looked more like polka-dotted crystals. In the patch notes, Square Enix noted that “the polygon count of grapes in Labyrinthos were reduced in excess to alleviate system memory usage in the area.” After the update, they looked like Crystarium grapes. This means that they still aren’t highly detailed, but they are more rounded.

As for the renaming of the FFXIV beet soup, this means there are no longer two items with the same name. Previously, people could get level 133 Beet Soup and level 533 Beet Soup. (The former uses Magma Beets, and the latter Beets.) The latter showed up in 6.0. It is now called Wine-dark Soup. The change is reflected in the Eorzea Database as well.

Final Fantasy XIV and the Endwalker expansion are available for the PS4, PS5, and PC.
