Nippon Ichi Software announced that Yomawari 3 is currently in development. The survival horror game will release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 21, 2022 in Japan.
A brief teaser trailer for the upcoming title has also been released:
The first game in the series, Yomawari: Night Alone, was released in Japan for the PlayStation Vita and PC in 2015. A sequel, Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, was released in 2017. Both received English releases and were later bundled as Yomawari: The Long Night Collection for the Nintendo Switch in 2018.
In the games, players use a flashlight to explore. The first game sees a young girl searching for a missing dog and the protagonist’s sister. While exploring the world, a heartbeat system is used to tell players if a monster is nearby, causing the protagonist to move slower. There is no way to fight back, and players must hide or carefully watch the monster’s movements to avoid detection.
Yomawari 3 will be directed by Munenori Hirose, who previously directed the detective adventure title Tantei Bokumetsu. Character designs are provided by Yu Mizokami, the original creator of the Yomawari series.
Yomawari 3 is currently in development and is scheduled to release in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 21, 2022. There has been no announcement regarding an international release.
