Kaiyodo has finalized the release date for its upcoming Evangelion EVAGIRLS Figures. The new 1/7 scale figures of Evangelion‘s heroines Rei, Asuka, and Mari will appear on December 24, 2021.
While most other figures like RADIO EVA and MegaHouse, which feature the characters in the usual anime style, EVAGIRLS will depict them differently. Hayashi Hiroki designed the figures’ faces to have more realistic proportions, especially on their eyes and lips. All three 1/7 scale figures will have an overall height of 213 mm (~ 8.4 inches).
Kaiyodo initially revealed the EVAGIRLS figures and opened pre-orders in February 2021. The new figures marked the 25th anniversary since Kaiyodo released its first Evangelion figures in 1996. It planned to release Mari’s figure first in August 2021, with Rei and Asuka’s figures following in September 2021.
However, in July 2021, Kaiyodo announced the delay of all three products to December 2021. Today’s announcement re-affirmed the publisher’s commitment to release the figures within the month.
The EVAGIRLS Figures of Rei Ayanami, Asuka Shikinami Langley, and Mari Makinami Illustrious from the Evangelion franchise will go on sale on December 24, 2021. They will be available with a price tag of 13,970 yen (~$123). Kaiyodo had previously held a limited pre-order session where people in Japan could get all three figures at once for 41,910 yen (~$368), with smaller 1/35 scale Digital Garage Kits as a bonus.
