The official Twitter account for Hataraku Maou-sama! aka The Devil is a Part-Timer! announced that the show will return for season 2. It will start airing from July 2022. Eight years passed since the first season ended in 2013, and unsurprisingly there will be a few changes to the staff. However, the cast remains the same. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]
Season 2 of The Devil is a Part-Timer will cover events from Volume 3. This is clear from Alas Ramus’s presence on the visual. In the light novels, Alas Ramus is, in fairly simple terms, Sadao and Emi’s adopted daughter. Hina Kino will voice her in the anime. Prior roles Kino played include Hanako from Asobi Asobase and Emu Otori from Project Sekai.
After season 2 was announced in March 2021, there was practically no news of its development until now. Here is the latest trailer for the anime:
Though White Fox handled the animation for the first season of The Devil is a Part-Timer!, Studio 3Hz will take over for season 2. Daisuke Chikushi (Isekai Cheat Magician) is the director, Yuuta Iino (22/7) is the character designer, and Ryousuke Nakanishi (Mekakucity Actors) is the composer. The studio is different, but several members of the key staff (Nakanishi and series composer Masahiro Yokotani) worked on the first season.
The Devil is a Part-Timer! follows the story of Demon King Satan, who flees to modern Japan with Demon General Alsiel after they are defeated by Hero Emilia. He has to try and fit in as a normal fast food restaurant worker in order to replenish his magic, but he starts to seriously enjoy life as the normal “Sadao Maou.”
Season 2 of Hataraku Maou-sama! or The Devil is a Part-Timer! will start airing from July 2022.
