Lapras Cafe Sendai

Lapras Pokemon Café Will Open for Limited Time in Sendai

A Lapras-themed café will open up for a limited time in Cross B Plus in Sendai as part of the Miyagi Prefecture tourism campaign. The reason why the café is focused on Lapras is because it is the ambassador Pokemon for Miyagi Prefecture. Lapras Café will open from December 17, 2021 to January 16, 2022, with reservations opening on December 6, 2021. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

There are photos online of what kinds of foods you can expect from the Lapras Café in Sendai. In total, there are around ten items on the menu, with some of them available for take-out. Here are a few of the meals and snacks you can order:

  • Lapras Seafood Gratin Plate (1580 JPY)
  • Lapras Blue Pancake (1280 JPY)
  • Overflowing Power! Geodude’s Keema Curry (1580 JPY)
  • Carrying Happiness <3 Chansey’s Chirashi Sushi (1580 JPY)

All of the items depict the Pokemon in some way. For example, the pancake has a cut-out of Lapras on it, whereas the Geodude and Chansey foods use rice to recreate the Pokemon. You will also get the chance to buy collaboration goods featuring Lapras, Geodude, and Chansey. More information on the merchandise will appear from the official Lapras Café website.

In July 2019, Lapras became the ambassador Pokemon for Miyagi. Geodude and Chansey are involved because Geodude is Iwate’s ambassador, and Chansey is Fukushima’s. Other Pokemon that have appeared around cities for their own tourism campaigns include Kagawa’s Slowpoke and Hokkaido’s Vulpix.

Lapras Café will open in Sendai from December 17, 2021 to January 16, 2022.
