FFXIV Downscaling and EXP Reset Explained

FFXIV Downscaling and EXP Reset Explained

During the Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer LIVE LXVII, a level reset came up. Now, Square Enix offered additional details to potentially alleviate concerns and prepare people for the change. It explains why there will be a mid-level EXP reset in FFXIV to start. It also explained that working to hit the next level would help with that. It also addressed what values FFXIV downscaling will hit.

First, the FFXIV mid-level EXP reset is due to the new value scale. Due to how many people play and how many data sets there are, there has to be an overall change. This means that Disciples of War and Magic and Disciples of the Hand and Land EXP will be affected for player characters. It means you will go to the beginning of your current level. It also means your Retainer and Trust Avatar EXP will go down too. However, the Chocobo, Deep Dungeon, Eureka, Forbidden Land, Grand Company, and PVP EXP will not drop to 0.

As for the FFXIV downscaling, three areas will be affected. Enemy HP, your damage dealt, and the amount of healing done by items or meals will be lower. Also connected to the level EXP is the fact that the amounts will be lower. When crafting, the difficulty, progress, and quality numbers will be lower too.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. FFXIV Endwalker early access will launch on December 3, 2021. The full version will appear on December 7, 2021.
