Netflix announced that season 2 of the CG anime series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will appear in 2022. Along with the announcement, a new poster showing the characters that will be returning to the series was released via social media. Like the first season, season two will also be available to watch on Netflix worldwide.

The series takes place in the Stand Alone Complex sub-continuity and follows the 2002 anime series. Like Stand Alone Complex, SAC_2045 is also produced by Production I.G, and both Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki have returned to direct the series.
Character designs for the show were provided by Ilya Kuvshinov, a Russian-born artist popular on Instagram. After moving to Japan to pursue a full-time career in anime, he is now largely known for his work on the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 series and the coming-of-age film The Wonderland.
Season 2 of Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 will be coming to Netflix in 2022. No exact release date has been announced. The first season premiered exclusively on the streaming service in April 2020. The first season is being adapted into a compilation film set to premiere in Japan on November 12, 2021.
