FFXIV Endwalker Delayed, New Release Date Falls in December

The Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer LIVE Part LXVII began with unfortunate news. Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida announced that the FFXIV Endwalker release date is delayed. It will now appear on December 7, 2021, two weeks after its original November 23, 2021 release date. The decision to delay the game was made on October 29, 2021, so this is a fairly recent choice.

In addition, the early access FFXIV Endwalker release date is delayed. That was set to begin on November 19, 2021. People who pre-ordered will still get early access, however. That will now begin on December 3, 2021 instead.

During the presentation, Yoshida noted the size and scope of FFXIV. He brought up congestion, access, and the influx of people now playing. A desire to make sure enough time would be spent with Master QA. He also apologized multiple times.

He also mentioned the Heavensward delay between seasons. He mentioned this is the first time he announced a release date, then had to delay it. He brought up again how bad he felt about pushing it back.

Yoshida also mentioned thinking about decisions like dividing up into patches or cutting content. But said that it came to this, the delay, instead. He also said, after seeing comments in the chat, that two additional weeks of QA should be enough. It would be the “safe bet.”

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. Now that it’s delayed, the FFXIV Endwalker release date is now December 7, 2021. Aside from the delay, this Letter from the Producer Live LXVII is designed to talk about crafting and PVP.
