The first free update for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles will launch tomorrow in the west and on November 4, 2021 in Japan. This will be the first of three planned updates and will add the demons Rui and Akaza as playable characters.
Along with this announcement, the official V-Jump YouTube channel posted an 18-minute video showing the two new characters in action.
The following two Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles updates do not yet have release windows. Each will also add two additional playable demon characters to the game, for a total of six. The Hinokami Chronicles includes a story mode that closely follows the events of the anime series, while a separate battle mode allows players to fight as different characters from the series.
