Tales of Luminaria Producer Sugi took part in a Q&A about the upcoming RPG. Bandai Namco picked 10 questions from people interested in the title. Questions about if it will affect other entries in the series or if collaboration events are planned came up. Most importantly, when it came to voice actors, Sugi noted that there will be no dual audio and Japanese voice acting will be in the English version. However, he also said if there are enough comments, dual audio might be considered.
Sugi confirmed that Tales of Luminaria voice acting will be limited to a set language for certain regions. He did say the team wanted a different outcome, though. Sugi also mentioned Funimation’s involvement when it came to preparing the Tales of Luminaria voice actors.
Here’s Sugi’s exact response.
…The answer to this question is, the English version will only be playable in English. We really did want the overseas version to include Japanese, but there were too many hurdles we had to jump over and we weren’t able to include it.
That said, with the help of Funimation and the talent of the amazing voice actors, the English voices used in this game are all natural and really fit the characters they are portraying. With everyone’s hard work, each character really has their soul poured into it, and we feel you’ll get an experience similar to that of the Japanese version.
That said, while it may be difficult, if there are enough comments to warrant adding Japanese to the game we’ll make sure to consider it. So please—make yourself heard via our social media channels.
