The Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall anime series will premiere in spring 2022, according to the project’s official website. A new visual also appeared for the upcoming series, along with staff announcements. Tensho will direct the series at his Bibury Animation Studio. The creator has previously worked on Azur Lane and Grisaia: Phantom Trigger.
The series will be written by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass, Blade of the Immortal) and Ryo Yoshigami. Credited with the original character design, illustrator huke is once again credited for his original work. The Black Rock Shooter franchise began with his illustration posted to pixiv in 2007, inspiring a song by supercell featuring popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku. In 2010, a 50-minute Black Rock Shooter OVA was released, with a 2012 anime series following. In June 2021, a new Black Rock Shooter figure was announced by Good Smile Company as part of the more affordable Pop-Up Parade Collection.
While each piece of related media takes place in its own unique universe, the character Black Rock Shooter is always a black-haired girl with a blazing blue eye and a rapid-fire cannon.
