Sega has confirmed that Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles will feature the events of the Mugen Train story arc. Footage of scenes from the arc were included in the latest trailer for the game. The Mugen Train arc was also the subject of the record-breaking feature film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train.
The Demon Slayer: Hinokami Chronicles trailer also highlights footage from the game’s narrative-focused adventure mode. It will include major encounters from the story, such as the fight against the demon Rui from the Natagumo Mountain arc. Similarly, Mugen Train encounters are shown in flashes, like the fight between Tanjiro and Enmu. The end of the trailer teases the Kyojuro Rengoku versus Akaza fight. Also shown are flashes of the versus mode of the game. It will allow players to pit members of the cast against each other in stylized duels in local and online multiplayer.
In a press release accompanying the trailer, Sega clarified some details about Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles post-release content, new graphical modes, and launch packs. Following release, a series of three free updates will add new playable demons to the roster over . Players who purchase the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Steam versions of the game will also be able to take advantage of a “performance mode” patch after launch, which will enable gameplay at 60FPS (with 30FPS in cutscenes).
Lastly, some corrections were issued regarding the Steam version of the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game. A desktop wallpaper will replace the previously advertised “profile background” contained in the Digital Deluxe Edition due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Further, players that opt to pre-purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition before October 15th, 2021, will receive 2 bonus character unlock keys, an additional character avatar, and early access to the game starting October 13, 2021.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles will launch for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on October 14, 2021 in Japan and October 15, 2021 worldwide. Check out Siliconera’s preview of the game.
