All main characters from the original Kamen Rider W will return in this sequel: Shotaro and Philip — who can collectively transform into Kamen Rider Double, Ryu — who can transform into Kamen Rider Accel, and Akiko, the current chief of Narumi Detective Office. Fuuto PI will also add a mysterious woman named Tokime into the main cast list.

The Fuuto PI anime is being worked on by Studio KAI, also known for The New Prince of Tennis: Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of Future. The title’s director will be Yosuke Kabashima, who previously worked on Accel World and the Symphogear series. The co-composers of Kamen Rider W, Kotaro Nakagawa and Shuhei Naruse, will also return for this anime’s soundtrack.

Fuuto PI is the sequel to the 2009-2010 tokusatsu show Kamen Rider W (Double). It originated as a manga series that first appeared in August 2017. In April 2021, Toei announced the anime adaptation of Fuuto PI as one of three Kamen Rider‘s 50th Anniversary projects. The other two projects announced were Kamen Rider Black Sun, a reboot of the popular classic title Kamen Rider Black, and Shin Kamen Rider, a feature film that Hideaki Anno of Evangelion fame will direct.

As a side note, Bandai Namco also included Kamen Rider W in Kamen Rider: Memory of Heroez. The franchise’s latest console game is available immediately on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The anime adaptation of Fuuto PI will begin airing in Summer 2022. Funimation also announced plans to stream the anime on its platform.
