[Thanks, Game Watch!]
According to the statement, on August 22, 2021, it was revealed that an employee had tested positive for COVID-19. The Pokemon Company will work in cooperation with the public health center and other related facilities to properly reopen the location. Additionally, the company will continue to enforce preventative measures such as taking the temperature of employees, wearing masks, and using disinfectant.
As of August 23, 2021 the Pokemon Center Mega Tokyo location is the only Pokemon Center facility to temporarily close. There is currently no indication that other facilities will follow suit. On August 11, 2021, the Nintendo Tokyo store announced that one of its employees had tested positive for COVID-19. The location also temporarily closed in response.
The Pokemon Center is a series of retail locations, and an online store, where consumers can purchase exclusive Pokemon merchandise. Recently, The Pokemon Company announced the production of an oversized Piplup plush that consumers could purchase through the online store.
