Cookie Clicker is about to advance, as a paid version will head to Steam. On September 1, 2021, people will be able to pay $4.99 and begin clicking for cookies. While the core gameplay will remain the same, that is starting by clicking on a cookie, then using currency accrued to earn upgrades and go deeper, there will be some exclusive features.
For example, this paid version of Cookie Clicker will include Steam Cloud support. This allows you to save and carry over your files. It will also be available in 12 different languages. Cookie Clicker will have a C418 soundtrack if you go with the Steam version of it. Also, all of its over 500 achievements will also be Steam Achievements.
There’s also a trailer that offers a peek at how Cookie Clicker will work, mentioning its over 600 upgrades, minigames, stock market, holidays, pantheon, and Krumblor Cookie Dragon. The video also seems to hint at something darker, as Grandma notes that “I’ll be watching” at the end.
Cookie Clicker will come to Steam for PCs on September 1, 2021. You can also play a version of the game for free in your browser. The idle game has been around since 2013.
