Marvelous has announced that Sony Interactive Entertainment will support indie developers through the Indie Game Incubator initiative. The official press release states that Sony Interactive Entertainment will work alongside several other major developers to help foster indie developers through the program. Additionally, Head of the Independent Developer Initiative at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida stated that the company will “continue to work to provide an environment where independent creators in Japan can create what they want through collaboration with Indie Game Incubator.”
Senior Director at Xbox Chris Charla also released a statement. In it he states that “Microsoft is pleased to support Indie Game Incubator, and work with Japanese indie game developers.” Additionally, Charla mentions that this could deepen Microsoft’s relationship with the Japanese indie community.
Indie Game Incubator as an initiative started by Marvelous to support independent game developers in Japan. The initiative will help developers in more than a handful of ways. This includes development planning, multilingual releases, and marketing strategies. The initiative was announced in February 2021. The program is working in collaboration with Game BCN.
