In an interview with Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura and Motomu Toriyama spoke about the possibility of Final Fantasy X-3 appearing sometime in the future. While Nomura stated that the concept of the game itself is currently in limbo, Toriyama remained somewhat more optimistic. That said, while the concept is currently up in the air, Toriyama’s response indicated that Final Fantasy X-3 could appear sometime after Final Fantasy VII Remake finishes. Toriyama stated that Final Fantasy VII Remake currently takes priority over other projects for the team.
Additionally, Nomura mentioned previous materials that could potentially lead into the sequel of Final Fantasy X-2. The Final Fantasy X audio drama titled “Will” features information about where the narrative could go. Additionally, he mentions that Kazushige Nojima had already penned a potential scenario if a sequel was ever made.
Final Fantasy X is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Previously, the Japanese gaming outlet asked for readers to submit their favorite moments in Final Fantasy X in a survey to potentially use in an upcoming spread. Additionally, interviews will key members of the development team will appear in this upcoming issue of Famitsu.
