Japanese animation studio Ufotable released a statement regarding a report concerning it committing tax fraud. The statement read that the Tokyo National Tax Bureau charged the studio on suspicion of violating the Corporate Tax Law. Ufotable apologized for any inconvenience this might cause any related parties or fans.
Ufotable released a statement through its official website and Twitter account regarding the tax fraud allegations. Additionally, the studio filed a tax return and paid the full amount dictated by the national tax authorities. Ufotable pledged to comply with the national laws and regulations in the closing of its statement. The amount was not disclosed.
The animation studio worked on various series, which includes both shows like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and more recently games like Tales of Arise. Other credits include Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Zero, and more than a handful of openings for the Tales of series. Ufotable will also provide the opening animation for the Tsukihime remake, Tsukihime – A Piece of Blue Grass Moon. Recently, Ufotable also created the key illustrations for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Hinokami Chronicles. This upcoming title draws direct inspiration from the animation studio’s visual style. This includes various combat animations and special effects.
