Both games, as well as the PlayStation 5 version of the original River City Girls, were confirmed to get physical releases through Limited Run Games.

Details weren’t revealed, but River City Girls 2 is slated for release sometime in 2022. Among its listed platforms are PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. The game will feature online co-op for two players. New playable characters, in addition to Misako, Kyoko, Kunio, and Riki, were teased.

A new-to-the-West localization of 1994’s Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka, River City Girls Zero will release on Nintendo Switch sometime later in 2021. It will come packed with a new anime-style opening, new cutscenes and an original song by Megan McDuffee.

The games were announced as part of Limited Run Games‘ E3 2021 stream. The physical game publisher showed off 25 games at the event, including Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun Retro Brawler Bundle, BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites, and Haven. The company has been releasing “LRG3” videos annually since 2017.
