Among the many games announced at the Sonic Central May 2021 presentation was a collection. Sega confirmed it is working on Sonic Origins, a compilation that will include older games like Sonic CD. A total of five titles will be present in the 2022 release.
Few details came up about Sonic Origins. The summary included a brief look at some of the games in action. Unspecified “added content and features” will appear in the titles. The collection will also appear on “the latest platforms.” In total, Sonic Origins will grant access to Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD.
You can see the collection’s reveal at the 6:50 mark in the video below.
Sonic Origins is in development for unspecified platforms. It will launch in 2022. It will be joined by a new Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC that year.
