Additionally, this is the first time a Japanese film has ever grossed over 40 billion yen domestically. Since its release, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train has broken several box office records within Japan. This includes fastest grossing film, and largest grossing film. Previously, Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away held the record for largest grossing film. As it stands, the Demon Slayer movie has set a new record with its domestic success.
Regarding its global revenue, the Demon Slayer movie has become the second highest grossing anime film at the US box office. As of May 22, 2021 the film has made a total of 44 million dollars within the US market, putting it behind Pokemon: The First Movie.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train is currently available to watch in US theaters. A digital release is planned for June 22, 2021. Streaming services will include Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, the Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation Store.
