In an interview with Famitsu, Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed more information concerning the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV Reaper job. Announced at Fan Fest 2021, the scythe-wielding, ghost-toting Reaper will be the latest addition to the DPS jobs roster. Additionally, Yoshida provided insight as to how the job will function. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
In the interview, Yoshida states that Reaper will not be a pet-focused job like Summoner. In addition, Reaper will have a unique appearance when fused with their Avatar based on the player character’s race. However, there will not be multiple types of Avatars for the Reaper outside of this unique fusion. The various fusions are meant to supplement the lack of multiple Avatar variants.
More information about the Final Fantasy XIV Reaper and how it will function will be revealed in the future. That being said, Yoshida did reveal that Reaper will be able to charge the job’s unique gauge by attacking. This will allow players to summon their Avatar once the bar is full.
Final Fantasy XIV is immediately available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, which will add Reaper and many other new features to the game, will release on November 23, 2021.
