As part of a PlayStation Blog roundup explaining upcoming DualSense features, Tango Gameworks brought up how Ghostwire Tokyo will use the PS5 controller. Essentially, the idea will be to help tie it into people’s in-game powers. The controller’s adaptative triggers, haptic feedback, and triggers will all combine. The goal is for some to feel like you’re using a “sixth sense.”
The developer first mentioned how the sixth sense effect will work in-game. When someone plays Ghostwire Tokyo with a DualSense, the speaker will help you hear the supernatural and its motors will make you “feel” their presence. As you play more and get stronger, the sensations will become greater.
Tango Gameworks also explained how the DualSense will kick in when fighting spirits in Ghostwire Tokyo. The controller’s adaptive triggers will kick in as you fight. When you play, you’ll be using different sorts of elemental attacks. Each one will feel different, in addition to looking and behaving differently in-game. You’ll also feel it when you press a trigger to finish a foe off by removing its core.
Ghostwire Tokyo will come to the PlayStation 5 and PC in 2021. While an exact window hasn’t been offered, a CES 2021 video suggested it could be out in October 2021.
