Now that NieR Re[in]carnation’s English launch is drawing nearer, Square Enix introduced the main characters The Girl of Light and Mama. The official Twitter account showed off both of the people we’ll primarily be following. In addition, it also teased a major opponent, the Dark Monster that also stalks throughout The Cage.
First, NieR Re[in]carnation’s Girl of Light is the character we follow. She is trapped in The Cage and has a collar around her. Visually speaking, she has the same sort of look as other NieR series protagonists, with white hair.

Mama is the NieR Re[in]carnation mascot character of sorts. While the Girl of Light doesn’t speak, Mama has a lot to say and offers running commentary. Square Enix even made and sold a plush version of her.

As for The Dark Monster, it also roams throughout The Cage.

While we know about NieR Re[in]carnation’s Girl of Light and Mama, one character hasn’t been introduced yet. There is also a “Wandering Boy” who appears. His official English profile could also show up eventually.
NieR Re[in]carnation global pre-registeration is open. There will be a closed beta on Android devices. It is immediately available in Japan.
