Atlus West announced on Twitter that Persona 5 Strikers has hit over 1.3 million units in worldwide sales. Atlus published the game, and it was developed by Omega Force. Omega Force is most known for its work on Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors series.
When Persona 5 Strikers first came out in Japan, it sold a total of 162,410 units in its first week. Five months later, the number increased to 480,000 units in Japan and Asia. Compared to Persona 5’s strong numbers in 2016, it was rather underwhelming due to the differences in game genre and console.
The game takes place half a year after the events of the original Persona 5. Its plot follows the former Phantom Thieves traveling across Japan to investigate mysterious Metaverse Jails. As well, Persona 5 Strikers’ battle system is a hack-and-slash similar to the Dynasty Warriors series’ style, which contrasts with the original game’s turn-based combat.
Persona 5 Strikers first released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on February 20, 2020. Its worldwide release, which includes a Windows PC version, came out a little over a year later on February 23, 2021. The prequel games to Persona 5 Scramble, Persona 5 and Persona 5: Royal, released as PlayStation console exclusives.
Persona 5 Strikers is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
