Kamen Rider Zero-One and Ryuki Heading Westward

Lots of Kamen Rider project announcements appeared as part of the series’ 50th anniversary celebration. Among them were reveals regarding localizations. Shout Factory picked up both Kamen Rider Zero-One and Kamen Rider Ryuki. While both will be “coming soon” via streaming services, the former will get a physical release.

Kamen Rider Ryuki is the older of the two series. It aired in Japan in 2002. It follows the events of the Rider War and the actions of Kamen Rider Ryuki and Kamen Rider Knight as both participate in the Mirror World events for their own reasons. Only one Rider can win and become the Kamen Rider. An adaptation called Kamen Rider Dragon Knight showed up in the west.

Kamen Rider Zero-One is more recent, as its run began in Japan in September 2019. People follow Kamen Rider Zero-One steps in to try and stop terrorist attacks against humans by MetsubouJinrai.net. It’s set in a world where androids with advanced AI, called Humagears, are an important part of daily life and are being used by MetsubouJinrai.net as part of its attacks.

There were only two of many reveals. For example, Shin Kamen Rider is in the works from Hideaki Anno. Both Kamen Rider Black Sun and Kamen Rider W are in development.

Shout Factory said both Kamen Rider Zero-One and Ryuki will be “coming soon,” but didn’t offer exact dates for digital or physical releases.
