Yostar, Manjuu, and Yongshi revealed Azur Lane shipgirl personifications of USS Allen M. Sumner and USS Stephen Potter. Both characters will be available in a limited construction pool for the “Ashen Simulacrum” event rerun, set to begin in late March 2021.
The Azur Lane shipgirls are based on real-life warships that were present in World War II. USS Stephen Potter is based on the Fletcher-class destroyer DD-538, while DD-692 USS Allen M. Sumner is the lead ship of a newer class that succeeded the Fletchers. Both ships survived World War II and saw more actions in subsequent wars before they were ultimately scrapped in 1973 and 1974, respectively.
Azur Lane currently has a rerun of the “Approaching Storm” mini-event, which features a prologue to the major “Ashen Simulacrum” event. Originally held in late July 2019, the event added more shipgirls from the USA-inspired Eagle Union, such as the heavy cruiser CA-68 USS Baltimore and the battleship BB-60 USS Alabama.
Yostar, Manjuu, and Yongshi have been known to add a couple of new shipgirls almost every time they held a limited rerun of a prior story event. The previous rerun was dedicated to “Empyreal Tragicomedy” in January 2021. The developers similarly added two new shipgirls from the Italy-inspired Sardegna Empire—RN Pola and Vincenzo Gioberti—through the limited construction pool.
