The Nintendo Support Forums May Soon Shut Down

Nintendo fans with technical concerns may soon have one less way to contact the company, if rumors are true. According to emails received by some users, the Nintendo of America Support Forums are in the process of being shut down. The rumors are based on an email dated March 12, 2021 received by a longtime forum user, who uploaded it to the Nintendo Reddit page [Thanks, Nintendo Everything].

According to the email, the Nintendo representative noted that after more than a decade, the company has decided to close the Nintendo Support Forums. Going forward, it would focus on the “many other” support options. The email was sent as a form of early notice to “top members” in the community, and as thanks for their engagement, at least some of those notified were offered free download codes from a selection of first-party Nintendo titles.

Nintendo of America has operated its Support Forums for a long time, though of late, they have shrunk in size as the company has pivoted away from maintaining forum communities. Meanwhile, other official support lines have grown, and currently Nintendo representatives usually direct customers to a contact page to find an appropriate option for help, which can include phone, chat, text message, or a ticketing system.

At the time of this writing, Nintendo of America has not confirmed if the Support Forums are closing or not. Meanwhile, concerns over the Nintendo Switch’s issues with Joy-Con drift have expanded to include a class action lawsuit in Canada.
