Sega will hold the Phantasy Star Online Sympathy 2021 concert in Tokyo, Japan, on April 24, 2021. The concert is being held as a part of the 20th anniversary celebration for the online game series. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The Sympathy 2021 concert will take place at the Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo, for both live and online audiences. Tickets to watch the online stream will be available for purchase at eplus from March 13, 2021, to May 2, 2021 — when the stream archive is set to expire. This concert will consist of Live and Orchestra segments with different instruments used for each segment. The most recent Phantasy Star Online live concert was in 2018, while the orchestra concert was last held in 2015.
The concert will include performances of songs from the PSO series, with an emphasis on Phantasy Star Online 2. The singers Shouta Aoi and Halko Momoi will exclusively appear in the Live segment. The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the Orchestra segment, with Masamichi Amano conducting. Japanese singer-songwriter Karen will also make a guest appearance. Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, Mika Arisaka, Aimee Blackschleger, and Florence McNair will also perform at the concert.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is immediately available on PC and Xbox One worldwide. Japan has its own separate version, with clients available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch — the latter being a cloud version. The newest title, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, will be available worldwide in 2021. Sega will reveal more details on New Genesis with a live broadcast set to air on March 18, 2021.
