In an interview with Capcom Unity, Monster Hunter Rise Director Yasunori Ichinose shared his thoughts about the upcoming title, including fan reception and response. This short interview also confirms some features that will make a return in Monster Hunter rise, along with clarification to changes made to the buddy system.
Director Ichinose was pleased with the international response to the Palamute, and mentions that the new canine companion has grown on him due to the time he’s spent with Monster Hunter Rise. Additionally, he mentions that he was originally worried how the audience would receive a “Japanese/Asian-flavored” setting, but was happy to see such a positive response.
In regards to gameplay elements in Monster Hunter Rise, Ichinose mentioned that each player will be able to take either a Palamute or Palico with them in multiplayer missions. This means that a total of eight characters will be able to participate in hunts in Monster Hunter Rise. Just like in previous titles, the difficulty for hunts will increase depending on the amount of hunters taking on a single job. However, Ichinose does mention that this system has been tweaked slightly.
Recently, two new monsters were revealed for Monster Hunter Rise. These fearsome new foes will appear alongside fan favorite monsters like the Rajang, Rathian, and Volvidon.
Monster Hunter Rise will launch on Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.
