Japanese manga publisher Shueisha has released a statement warning consumers that pirated volumes of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga have appeared on Japanese online storefronts. All twenty-three volumes of the manga have been found online through various storefronts, including Amazon Japan and Mercari. Shueisha and the official Shonen Jump Twitter have released information to help users avoid purchasing these pirated issues of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Western readers don’t have to worry about this issue, as this warning is specifically for the Japanese release of the manga. Additionally, the official Shonen Jump Twitter has provided images that point out the differences between the official and pirated releases. This includes a difference in volume thickness and a lack of borders around the price tag on the back of the books.
