The first Legend of Zelda game for the Wii, Twilight Princess, received a remaster for the Wii U, but the second game, Skyward Sword, has been nearly forgotten about since it was released on the Wii in 2011. Eoji Aonuma announced today at the Nintendo Direct that Skyward Sword HD will be coming to the Switch on July 16, 2021.
Since the game originally released on the Wii, Skyward Sword primarily used motion controls for Link’s sword-swinging, shield bearing, and other item using. Nintendo will keep these motion controls in tact with the Switch Joy Cons. However, if motion controls were the reason why you never picked up Skyward Sword in the first place, or motion controls simply aren’t your thing, Skyward Sword HD will also have a button-only option for controls.
Along with its release, Nintendo will also release Skyward Sword-themed Joy-Cons, that are simply gorgeous.
Both the game and the Joy-Cons will be available on July 16, 2021.
There’s no better time to jump into Skyward Sword than when it re-releases on Switch. Especially since it features both motion controls and button-only controls, there’s no excuse for not trying this one out. You can pre-order Skyward Sword HD in the Switch eShop now.
