A new content update has launched for Sega’s MMORPG, Phantasy Star Online 2. The PSO2 Chapter 6 update includes new story quests, items, the Season 13 Mission Pass, a scratch ticket collection, and the new Scion Luster Class. Those looking for a challenge can now level classes up to level 100 and face new difficulty levels.
This newest class, which is designed to specialize in high-speed combat, can only equip Gunblades and requires that the player reach level 75 in at least two other classes before it can be unlocked. While playing as the PSO2 Scion Luster Class, players will be able to switch between the Zandi, Fomel, and Baran styles of combat. These three combat options are activated by equipping different elementally-augmented weapons. The Zandi Style is agile and excels at utilizing area of affect attacks, while the Fomel and Baran styles are geared toward close combat and defense, respectively.
In terms of abilities, the Scion Luster will use a combination of the Evasion Shot weapon action, which provides temporary invulnerability, and enhanced actions. Enhanced actions are used by expending Luster Gunblade Focus.
Additionally, the PSO2 Chapter 6 update introduces a sixth chapter to the game’s sixth episode. Ultra-Difficulty has been added to two different urgent quests as well. Completing “The Malevolent Void” or “The Call of the Void” on the new difficulty option will reward the player with weapons, armor pieces, and fragments.
Phantasy Star Online 2 can be played worldwide on PC and Xbox One. Players in Japan can also access the game on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, which will function as both a reboot and a sequel to Phantasy Star Online 2, is currently slated for a 2021 release.
