Bayonetta 3 Information

Bayonetta 3 Information Hopefully on the Way Says Its Director

Hideki Kamiya, a designer, supervisor, writer, and director at PlatinumGames, recently commented on the state of the studio’s upcoming title, Bayonetta 3. Speaking to Hamster CEO, Satoshi Hamada, during a new Arcade Archives stream, Kamiya stated that the studio hopes to give an update on the title at some point this year. [Thanks, Nintendo Everything!]

Kamiya also clarified that there wasn’t a lot that he was permitted to talk about on the subject. Along that line, he stated that he was working on some other unannounced projects, too, before acknowledging that he wasn’t certain if he was allowed to mention the existence of the ongoing but unannounced projects in the first place.

Most announcements regarding Bayonetta 3 center around the fact that it is still in development. In May of 2020, Kamiya responded to a question about whether or not he was “bored” of being asked about the game’s potential cancellation by saying that people who have those sort of concerns should, “…throw them out the window immediately because we’re still hard at work on it and it hasn’t been cancelled by any means.” Kamiya additionally told Famitsu that development was “progressing smoothly.” In terms of what fans can expect from the game, Kamiya explained that there is a lot of information hidden in the game’s teaser trailer. We also know that the design process for Bayonetta 3 has been different than the process used for the first two games.

Bayonetta 3 was first announced as a Nintendo Switch exclusive during the The Game Awards 2017. The original version of its predecessor, Bayonetta 2, released as an exclusive for the Nintendo Wii U and was eventually made available on the Switch as well. The series’ protagonist recently appeared as the playable character Wonder-Bayonetta in The Wonderful 101 Remastered.
