Delisted Games Reappear on 3DS eShop

A majority of recently delisted games for the Nintendo DSi have returned to the North American version of Nintendo’s 3DS eShop over the past couple days. Prior to that, 250 out of 448 available DSi titles had suddenly disappeared without warning or comment according to Delisted Games, a site dedicated to delistings. [Thanks, Delisted Games]

On January 7, 2021, some of these games started reappearing. On January 9, all but 13 titles returned. Some of the still missing games at that point included 5 in 1 Solitaire, Dr. Mario Express, and four games from the Petz series. By the end of the day, the list shrunk to five with the Petz games making a return. Currently, the only titles missing are 5 in 1 Solitaire, Digger Dan and Kaboom, Face Pilot: Fly With Your Nintendo DSi Camera!, Match Up! and Word Searcher 3. It isn’t clear why any of this happened. Matt Bozon, the co-creator of the formerly delisted Shantae: Risky’s Revent and CCO of WayForward, didn’t seem to know ahead of time that the games wouldn’t be available anymore.

Games for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS were recently delisted, as well. These games, however, came with a warning ahead of their removal. The European Wii U eShop page indicated that digital sales of Super Mario Maker ends on January 13, 2021, although it didn’t address what would be happening to the game in other regions. NIS America announced that sales for both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Rodea the Sky Soldier wouldn’t be available after September 30, 2020 in Europe or North America. Lego City Undercover for the Wii U and its 3DS prequel Lego City Undercover: the Chase Begins were pulled, too, but that was accompanied by a comment from Nintendo.
