Fatal Fury First Contact Switch Version Debuts Today

SNK Corporation announced that Fatal Fury First Contact is available now on the Nintendo Switch. The game is an updated port of a Neo Geo Pocket Color entry that released back in 1999. The title is available digitally via the Nintendo eShop for $7.99 (before tax).

Originally released in 1999 and developed by Yumekobo, Fatal Fury First Contact is based on the arcade game, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2. The Neo Geo Pocket Color versions of fighting games feature chibi sprites of beloved SNK fighters and remixed 8-bit music. The pocket fighter boasts 13 playable characters, including two unlockable fighters. First Contact also has a “Potential Power” comeback mechanic, where players can perform super powerful special moves at the brink of death. Check out the launch trailer below.

Fatal Fury First Contact marks the fifth title in the Neo Geo Pocket Color series on Switch. SNK Gals’ Fighters, King of Fighters R-2, Samurai Shodown! 2, and The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny are all currently available on the Nintendo Switch. SNK teased fans that more unannounced classics will come to the hybrid console soon, as well. In the meantime, here are some screenshots for First Contact.
