Here’s How to Stay Warm in the Genshin Impact Dragonspine Region

When miHoYo releases update 1.2 on December 23, 2020, the Genshin Impact Dragonspine region will appear in Teyvat. Everyone will have a whole new area to explore. However, it’ll be a place that requires caution, as it’s a frigid, mountainous area that also brings the Sheer Cold mechanic to the game. To help folks prepare for temperatures so low that they could gradually eat away at characters’ health, miHoYo announced a few ways people can keep warm. Oh, and it also brought up other gameplay elements you can experience while you’re there.

The Dragonspine area is found between the Mondstadt region’s Dadaupa Gorge and Liyue’s Mingyun Village. It’s home to the Entombed City and its outskirts, an Ancient Palace, Skyfrost Nail, Snow-Covered Path, Starglow Cavern, and Wyrmrest Valley. It even has a Peak of Vindagnyr Domain with Blizzard Slayer and Heart of Depth artifacts. The map screenshot shared shows one Statue of the Seven and ten waypoints to find. All of said places are incredibly cold, even the Domain, and could experience snow that makes it even colder. (Not to mention swimming in its icy waters will take a toll on you.) When a character’s new Sheer Cold gauge hits zero, your health will gradually drop in increments.

However, there are four ways to stave off Sheer Cold affects when visiting Genshin Impact’s Dragonspine. Goulash is a meal you can make with two pieces of raw meat, two carrots, and one tomato to stop characters from freezing for 900 seconds (15 minutes). Its recipe is earned in an upcoming “Ah, Fresh Meat!” quest, though it is unknown how far you have to travel into Dragonspine to find it. You can use new blueprints to make gadgets like Warming Bottles to temporarily keep you warm. Scarlet Quartz items might be found around areas and can be used to stay warm and give you the power to destroy certain crystals. All Statues of the Seven and waypoints keep you warm when you’re near them. Pyro characters can light torches and fires. This area will also have Warming Seelies, instead of regular Seelies, that keep you hot when you’re near them.

As for the gadget blueprints, the announcement also covered how to get those crafting recipes. The Dragonspine is home to the Frostbearing Tree. Like Statues of the Seven, it has its own “currency” it accepts. As you explore, you might find Crimson Agate.

Here’s the full list of Frostbearing Tree rewards, though miHoYo didn’t note how many Crimson Agate will be needed to unlock each level.
