Donkey Kong Country 3 Is Part of the December Nintendo Switch Online Update

Nintendo announced a December Nintendo Switch Online update that will bring new NES, SNES, Famicom, Super Famicom, and Famicom Disk System games to the service. On December 18, 2020, one NES game and four SNES games will show up in North America. (Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble will be among them.) That same day, Japan will get four Super Famicom games and one Famicom Disk System game.

In North America, the lone NES game is Nightshade. It’s an adventure game with action segments where players follow the titular vigilante as he attempts to bring justice and peace to Metro City. (And, in the process, also become popular with its citizens.) The SNES games are Donkey Kong Country 3, the firefighter adventure/simulation The Ignition Factor, the fantasy action game Super Valis IV, and the fighting game Tuff E Nuff.

Here’s the video looking at all five of the upcoming additions.

The Japanese December Nintendo Switch Online update will include a few different games. Donkey Kong Country 3 and The Ignition Factor will both be available on the service, though the latter is known as Fire Fighting in that country. That region will also get the dodge ball game Kunio-kun no Dodge Ball da yo Zen’in Shugo, the fighting game Sugoi Hebereke, and the Famicom Disk System game Smash Ping Pong.

The new December Nintendo Switch Online NES and SNES games will be added on December 18, 2020. The September 2020 update added games like Donkey Kong Country 2 and Mario’s Super Picross.
