The latest Nintendo Downloads update offered a surprise release date for Dicey Dungeons Switch port. It turns out the roguelike will appear sooner than people might think. It always had a “late 2020” release window, which still appears on its eShop listing, but Nintendo confirmed it will appear on December 15, 2020.
Dicey Dungeons was made by Terry Cavanagh, who also made Super Hexagon and VVVVVV. It follows six dice, each of which belongs to a standard sort of RPG class. (There’s an Inventor, Jester, Robot, Thief, Warrior, and Witch.) Your goal is to get through a dungeon, building a deck as you go, so you can reach and defeat Lady Luck. However, since you are dice, you need to roll before you do anything and hope you get the right “rolls” to succeed.
As a reminder, here’s the launch trailer that introduces some characters and shows how the game is actually played.
Previously, we saw Dicey Dungeons’ Switch version show up an Indie World Showcase. The last update appeared during the March 2020 presentation.
The Dicey Dungeons Switch version will launch on December 15, 2020. It is immediately available on PCs. An updated release window for the mobile versions wasn’t shared.
